Reason
Donor assistance and financial support are required to translate all existing laws, rules and regulations, standards, guidelines, SOPs relating to trade, into English language. We believe that Maldives will not be able to comply with the previously notified definitive date for implementation. Hence, Maldives requests an extension to implement this Article up to 31 December 2028.

Reason
Border agencies have requested an extension to implement the Article as they are working on updating their websites to ensure guidelines, regulations and procedures are published. Border Agencies agreed to establish a Trade Information Portal (TIP) where traders and the business community can avail all trade related information easily from one single portal. For effective and timely publication of trade information as prescribed in the TFA and as Maldives have not yet identified a donor, Maldives requires and requests for donor assistance to establish a Trade Information Portal and requests that an extension is granted to implement this Article up to 31 December 2025.

Assistance and support are required to upgrade, Ministry of Economic Development (MED) and Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) website.
Assistance to develop capacity of MED, MFDA and officials of Ministry of Health (MoH) to manage, maintain and update website, / information portal.
Assistance to develop Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture (MoFMA) to further develop fisheries information system (FIS), and assistance to develop capacity on managing and updating fisheries information portal.
