Reason
The national enquiry point has been put in place through a Ministerial Decree specifying the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade as a central enquiry point. However, the structure of the national enquiry point and the required implementation mechanisms to interconnect this central enquiry point with the different border agencies are still to be developed. To this end, Egypt is seeking financial and technical assistance and capacity building support to set up and operationalize the national enquiry point.

Progress reported
3 May 2024 — G/TFA/N/EGY/4
Egypt has not received any technical assistance or capacity building in this respect. Despite the fact that each agency has its own system for handling enquiries on trade-related information in its area of competence, there is no single central TF Enquiry point linking the existing mechanisms for handling enquiries.

TACB support needs include:

• Development of a TF Enquiry point system and training of the staff.
• Establishment of ICT infrastructure and acquisition of Equipment.
